VMAs- not about music anymore?

Is anyone else saddened by the fact that politics and always seem to be the underlying issue in shows? Why can't people just unite for one night and enjoy music? Why can't families feel comfortable letting their children sit down to watch the Jonas Brothers? I think it was a sad choice of host for MTV. They lost a lot of points with me!
