if kept as you said and were purchased as freezer pack they are okay. Steaks could be from two different animals or sections of a beef. Also aged meat from a butcher is not necessarily bright red like supermarkets which is often due to lighting intentionally done to confuse patrons. beef will oxidize and in the hanging stage can be quite dark in color. Personally I have ate meat that even required scraping off the ageing which is usually done in the butcher shop. Meat builds up a film while it ages and is disposed of by the time it is packaged.
