What is his problem????

i'm friends with this guy that i've known for about 2 years. I liked him last year and this year too, but i never told him. This year, we had no cles together at school, so we never talked. But we texted every few days/weeks. He'd always have eye contact in the halls and at lunch with me for a few seconds every day. He texted me and asked if I was going to kennywood for my schools field trip and then he admitted he was going to ask someone out (at the time, i thought it was me....idky). At my best friend's birthday party the other week, we caught up with each other after almost a whole year of not talking. We talked some, and we held hands when we played Red Rover at the party, and i gave him a hug when he left, and the whole party, he'd be showing off or something and he tried to stand near me a lot too. At my school's field trip and on the last day of school on friday, he came up to me and said "hi mel!"
